Unfortunate reality — it's up to all of us to play up the achievements and advancements of our fellow women beyond their wedding makeup and outfit. If we don't, then who would? Definitely not the raja betas.

Nice read. Garima's story brought back memories of Julia Roberts' introduction scene in Notting Hill (https://youtu.be/PQkAVrycUnk) - Watch from 2:15 onwards. It's hilarious !! Unfortunately, even in this day and age, a woman earning more than a man is a concept as alien as the "string theory" for most people. All we can do is teach ourselves first and our kids next to remove these dark glasses of bias and see everyone for who they are and respect them and their choices.

All too familiar scenarios that we have normalised since ages - even realising that these scenarios are extremely unfair is a step forward for women. Thank you for putting it out there!

I felt like I have lived all these experiences despite being in completely different circumstances. I, who earn the equivalent of a regular b-school grad without having any technical degree (sheer hard work and a stroke of luck) am often overshadowed by my brother's achievement (even though they ARE greater than my own and I'm very proud of him). However, my parents' enthusiasm over him getting the smallest recognition at work is boundless compared to mine when I got a promotion. It was acknowledged once and then forgotten. I don't see the same pride and confidence they feel for my brother towards me. It's very disheartening. Thanks for writing Mahima, my boss sent me Seen and the Unseen (which led me to your blog) - to help me gain more confidence at work (I can be timid at time and cannot take tough decisions). Learning everyday and these posts really help :)

Touching stories and these are not stories but everyday experience for woman. As a man, I have realised that no matter how much we try, we can never completely understand how subtle biases are embedded in our daily lives, even in the most progressive families.
